The Auditorium of the Mahatma Gandhi Institute with its seating capacity of 650 and sophisticated light and sound systems play a  crucial part in the socio-cultural life of the Mauritian community. It is used regularly as venue for national and international events.  As for the other buildings on the premises, the major part of the campus has been used to house the Secondary School which was initially planned for 750,  has now become fully functional with a student population of 950.
